So a friend of mine was asking me for some software recommendations and I’m always a big fan of lists so I thought this would work out well for anyone looking for some new applications, wanting to secure their computer, or just start getting into programming. Web & Internet Applications:

FireFox Web Browser w/ Gmail Plugin, Scribe Fire, Download Status Bar, and the must have Greasemonkey. Don’t forget Pidgin either for all of your instant messaging needs! Oh yeah, if your a big torrent lover like myself, then download ABC.

Security & Network Tools:

AVG Anti-Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, and Netstumbler

Development Tools:

XAMPP, Perl Add-On for XAMPP, Putty SSH, Dreamweaver CS3, Netbeans & Java SDK, Ruby / RubyGems / Rails, and for occasional boredom; XNA Game Studio.
